Book Review!

Someday Dancer
by Sarah Rubin

Summary:
A ballerina tale with a thoroughly modern twist!

Casey Quinn has got more grace in her pinkie toe than all those prissy ballet-school girls put together, even if you'd never guess it from the looks of her too-long legs and dirty high-top sneakers. It's 1959, and freckle-faced Casey lives in the red-dust countryside of South Carolina. She's a farm girl: Her family can't afford ballet lessons. But Casey's dream is to dance in New York City. And if anyone tries to stand in her way, she's going to pirouette and jeté right over them!

Casey's got the grit, and Casey's got the grace: Is that enough to make it in Manhattan someday? Or might the Big Apple have something even better in mind? When she meets a visionary choreographer she calls "Miss Martha," Casey's ballerina dream takes a thoroughly, thrillingly modern twist!

Age Range: 12+

Rating: Four stars

My Thoughts: This was another great book! I used to take ballet lessons so I felt right at home. You will cheer Case on from the beginning, through her ups and her downs as she strives to make it to the big stage: New York. A fun read set in a historical setting!
The reason I gave this book four stars was that the plot seemed to drag at times, or one thing jumped to the next to quickly without explanation. But overall, I really recommend it!

Would you like to see more book reviews in the future? What are some of your favorite books?

Week One

It's a new week, almost a new month, so I'd thought I'd start it off with a photo and writing challenge. (This time, hopefully, I will actually finish it!)
Here is my Week 1 picture....

and what makes me unique....

....I have my own sense of style. I don't follow what the magazines tell me. I wear what makes me feel comfortable. When you walk into my closet, all you see is neon colors, skinny jeans, and dolmans. Oh, and my fave shoes: Ugg boots.

{I'm sooooooooooo proud of how this turned out! :D}

....I'm not like the other girls who are texting their friends all day long, posting on Facebook, or gossiping about their latest crush. First off, I don't have a cell phone or Facebook. Yup, that's right! And I'm 15! :O But I've realized I don't need one - at least not yet.

....I am loyal. So many times these days we here of people ditching and betraying their friends. It's annoying and sad. But I don't do that. No matter what. Some of my favorite sayings are: forgive and forget. Love each other as you would love yourself. Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things.

....and the best part is: I am God's girl. And no one can take that away from me.

Have a great day! :)

A Break

The title says it all! I'm going to take a week-long break to rest up, plan ahead, and get things done. I'm wiped-out from the weekend and I've also caught a cold. :P So, see you Sunday!
